Babysitter's Training with Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED-BL r.25Youth DevelopmentThe American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training with Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED-BL course prepares youth ages 11-16 to care for children and infants safely and confidently. It includes hands-on activities, videos and discussions to develop essential real-life readiness babysitting skills. The course covers feeding, diapering, picking up and holding children safety and emergency response. The First Aid/CPR/AED Blended Learning course includes an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-person training and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 2 hours to complete the online portion. We want to prepare participants well for emergencies but CPR can be physically demanding and participants should ideally weigh at least 85-90 pounds to participate in this portion of the course. Upon successful completion of both the online and in person portions of the course a valid 10-year Babysitter's Training digital certification and a valid 2-year digital certificate for Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED is issued. Baseball Camp with DASH Sports (Ages 6-12)Recreation / YouthDASH Sports Summer Baseball/T-Ball camps provide players with a well-rounded experience in a fun environment. Key elements of throwing, fielding/catching, batting, and baserunning will be taught and practiced, and players will be grouped and challenged at an appropriate level in a fun, positive environment while learning values of ‘Respect, Hustle, and Pride’. Camp ends with a scrimmage on the final day. Athletes should wear sunscreen, bring a water bottle, snack, and a baseball glove (spikes and bats are optional). Create Your Own Glass Mosaic Lamp or Lantern!Adult EnrichmentGlass mosaic sounds like a fancy, difficult art form however in this class, you will learn how it can be fun and easy while you mosaic a table lamp or candle lantern. Look through the idea book, browse the patterns and stencils, and choose from dozens of colors of precut glass. The first night is dedicated to working on your project, having fun, and discovering your creative side. There is the possibility of homework. During the second night, you will grout and learn about glass cutting, mosaic resources and other types of mosaics. There will be a supply fee based upon what you choose to decorate. Options are in the sign up and supply fee is due the night of class. This is a two part class! The State requires that students have a camera and microphone and be actively engaged with the instructor during each 3-hour class. If a student misses a lesson, they can make up that exact lesson by registering for a make-up lesson on their Safeway account.. The permit test is not provided during the class. Extreme Robotics: Battlebots (Entering grades 2-7)Youth EnrichmentThis camp will energize and excite students by combining the LEGO building system’s versatility and the Mindstorms EV3 microcomputer brick. Working in teams, students will construct fun LEGO models, experiment with programs, and compete in robotic challenges. Fishing in Your Neighborhood: Family Fishing ClinicYouth EnrichmentJoin the MN DNR’s Fishing in the Neighborhood (FiN) program for a fun, family-friendly evening of fishing! Designed for ages 5 and up, each youth must be accompanied by an adult. No experience or equipment is needed—we’ve got you covered! Rain or shine, come dressed for the weather and enjoy a great outdoor adventure close to home. Only register the participating youth. There will be a question to list the accompanying adult.
